Short

My time is rather limited this morning because I have to take the car to the Honda dealer. I hope they do good work.

Today I think I know more about handheld GPS devices than I did yesterday. I read reviews and forums on the internet yesterday for various models of Garmin and Magellan GPS units. From reading the two companies' websites I thought the Magellan Explorist series would be what I need. I also called Magellan and talked to a sales rep. The Magellan Explorist can use SD flash memory cards and in theory can store unlimited map details. However, when I read the customer reviews on Amazon.com, I found that the Garmin GPSMAP 60C and 60CS were definitely preferred by those who had bought them. The Garmin units apparently have a much better method of transferring detailed maps from the pc to the unit; and there were several people who reported buying Magellan units, returning them and buying the Garmin unit. Now I want Santa to bring me a Garmin GPSMAP 60C, City Select software and windshield mounting bracket with a suction cup.

My friend, Marguerite, called yesterday. She finally got some information on the Del Webb Frisco Lake development. She said it would probably be August of next year before houses are ready to be occupied I was hoping to leave Beaumont before June 1 when hurricane season begins.
