Internet Service Provider

Last week when I went to Frisco I learned that Comcast cable service
will not be available at Frisco Lakes when the Phase 1 residents move
in. I was not given any information on how long it will be before
Comcast offers service. My efforts to contact Comcast have been
futile. The sheet of frequently asked questions said DSL service would
be available. I listen to Leo LaPorte's KFI radio show out of Los
Angeles. He recommends an ISP called DSL Extreme. They have good
reviews for customer service and a low monthly rate of $12.95 for the
first year. I called to see if they will have service available. No
computer system is recognizing the address of my new house. I have
checked the U.S. Postal Service, Mapquest, etc. etc. None recognizes
the address. DSL Extreme said they need a telephone number or a street
address in order to tell for sure if they can offer service. DSL
service is dependent on the distance you are located from the
telephone equipment. I will really feel handicapped if I am forced to
go back to dialup. I use iTunes to download podcasts for my iPod. I
believe that you have to have a broadband connection to use iTunes. I
hope I am wrong. It might take all day to download the podcasts with
dialup.

I have never had satellite TV and do not want to buy the expensive
equipment that is required to use it. I think I may go to Radio Shack
and buy some rabbit ears to get local broadcast channels until cable
becomes available. I will miss CNN, but I think I can get by quite
well without the rest of the cable offerings for a while.
