Texas - 80 MPH

This morning while I was listening to the news on CNN I heard them say that Texas was raising the speed limit to 80 mph. This upset me. I think the higher speeds cost lives, and are the politicians unaware of the energy crisis? I calmed down a bit when I did a Google news search and found the speed limit is being increased only in a limited area of West Texas.
